WATERS  OF  NOAH  

"AND God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the cattle that was with him in the ark: and God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters asswaged; The fountains also of the deep and the windows of heaven were stopped, and the rain from heaven was restrained; And the waters returned from off the earth continually: and after the end of the hundred and fifty days the waters were abated." (Genesis 8:1-3)

And there's the answer to your second question, the water was removed from OFF the earth. And never mind any unbelieving "scientist"(so-called) who thinks that the only place in the universe where there is water is on or near the planet earth. The Bible is quite CLEAR that this planet is NOT the only place in the universe where there is water. Let's look at two other specific places, where waters may be found:

"And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. And God called the firmament Heaven." (Gen.1:7,8a)

Since the sun and moon and stars are plainly said to be "in the firmament", then it is obvious that the firmament refers to what we call the universe, and the geographical location of those two bodies of waters are NOT "in" the firmament as some suppose, but above and below the firmament. The waters ABOVE were released by opening the "windows of heaven", and the waters BELOW, in "the great deep", gushed upward to cover the earth.

And afterwards, WIND was used to return these waters back where they came from. (Don't forget that wind is not just air, but air that MOVES due to PRESSURE!)

Sure, some of these things seem pretty fantastic to me too, but you haven't produced any evidence to the contrary, and all the OBSERVABLE data supports the highly scientific historical account of the global flood in the days of Noah, so the Bible stands without proven error.

STOP and think of the EFFECTS of such a flood. Over a period of 40 days, the weight of water on the dry land went from zero to a TREMENDOUS weight of water bearing down upon the land.

The utter FORCE (estimated by some scientists as being an average rainful of about SIX inches per minute!) with which this water arrived would have torn up a lot of dirt, that is, the water could have been quite muddy, and this mud would have settled to the bottom of the water, once the water stopped arriving after 40 days.

And then for the remainder of the 150 days, before the waters were abated, that PRESSURE (more than 500 "atmospheres" or you could figure more than 7000 psi) was on top of the resulting sedimentary layers, producing the fossils we now see, and the various geological layers of [rapidly compacted] sedimentary deposits. (And any creature that didn't get buried in sediment, ended up on the surface of the ground and became "fertilizer".)
