From a "Questioning User" (QU3) reply to (4) Global Flood--

>>>QU3> The idea of a world being repopulated by the ark is absurd, and if you even think about the logistics (food for the thousands of animals, some of them as large as elephants) of the operation, you will realize that it is not possible.

>>RC> How many "thousands of animals" do you think were in the ark? How "large" is a BABY elephant? (There was no need for any of them to be fully-grown when they entered into the ark.)

The ark was measured in cubits. (Conservative cubit is 18 inches.)

  • 450+ feet = "The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits,"
  • 75+ feet = "the breadth of it fifty cubits," (Gen.6:15p A.V.)
  • 45+ feet  = "and the height of it thirty cubits." (Gen.6:15p)
  • 3 stories = "with lower, second, and third stories" (Gen.6:16p)
  • compartmented = "rooms shalt thou make in the ark" (Gen.6:14p)

>>RC> The ark capacity was estimated equivalent to 522 railroad boxcars.

>QU3> 522 boxcars isn't all that much, when you compare it to the number of birds and small mammals in North and South America alone, not to mention the food that they would need.

The ark only had to accomodate the kinds of creatures (2 each) that were present then. (The ark was bigger than needed! :)

The size of the ark is also comparable to an escort aircraft carrier, with enough room for THOUSANDS of people, but ONLY the 8 souls of Noah and his house were saved, for none of the "scientists" of that day believed it possible for there to be such a thing as RAIN.

Interestingly enough, the September 1990 issue of DISCOVER magazine had an article (p.60+) about "Biosphere II" being set up in the Arizona desert, and their plan [was] to have 8 men/women SEALED UP inside it along with numerous (not just kinds, but) "species" of animals and plant life, and expect to survive in there for two years. (Those few in the ark only had to survive for about one year.)

Although the bio-structure is 539 feet long (& 85 feet tall), it has basically one level only, except for a 2-story office/apartment for the 8 people. The square-footage of space in the structure for the plants and creatures is SIMILAR to that of the ark. The width of the bio-sphere was not mentioned, but the space was defined (p.60) as "2.5 lush acres". Using the most conservative "cubit", the ark had AT LEAST 2.32 (lush) ACRES of space, but possibly more than 3 acres. The Biosphere has a rain forest, waterfall, savanna, million-gallon "ocean", patch of Baja desert, a woodland and "an Everglades marsh". Now, WHY do people think that the ark didn't have plenty of room?

"For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe [Noah] entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be." The only sure Ark of safety in these last days is the LORD Jesus Christ. (Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved.)

As it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be also...
