From a "Questioning User" (QU6) followup to Ark in the desert--

>QU6> How many "kinds" of creatures are there? Do not forget insects, salt water fish, & plants, as the Bible said that ALL LIFE outside the arc was destroyed.

See previous message[s]. AIR-BREATHING creatures were destroyed.

>QU6> How much room do you think is required to keep and feed those animals for the duration of the flood and long enough to survive afterwards?

Some basic assumptions.

  1. They didn't need to be full grown. Younger creatures would require less space and less food. (All vegetarian then. Gen.1:30)
  2. Figuring an 18 inch cubit, the ark would have had a capacity about the same as an "Escort" aircraft carrier. (more likely 20 inch cubit)
  3. Fleas didn't need to have separate quarters provided, since they could stay with the dogs and provide exercise for the same. (smile :)
  4. The main divisions of creatures is given in Genesis 1 as:
    1. winged fowl ("after his kind")
    2. cattle ("after their kind")
    3. creeping thing ("after his kind")
    4. beast of the earth ("after his kind")
    5. man (after God's likeness)
(The "whales" and fish didn't need to be in the ark.)
  5. Additional creatures made for Adam (in garden) in Genesis 2:
    1. beast of the field (domestic)
    2. fowl of the air (formed out of the ground, not waters!)

"And of every living thing of all flesh, two of every sort shalt thou bring into the ark, to keep them alive with thee; they shall be male and female. Of fowls after their kind, and of cattle after their kind, of every creeping thing of the earth after his kind, two of every sort shall come unto thee, to keep them alive."(Gen.6:19,20)

Looks to me like PLENTY of room left over for THOUSANDS of people, IF they had taken heed to Noah's preaching! They didn't and died.

>>RC> , with enough room for THOUSANDS of people, but ONLY the 8 souls of Noah and his house were saved, for none of the "scientists" of that day believed it possible for there to be such a thing as RAIN.

>QU6> I thought you were serious. My mistake.

Very serious. Before the flood of Noah's day, "the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth... But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground." (Gen.2:5p,6)

The only sure Ark of safety in these last days is the LORD Jesus Christ.
(Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved.)

As it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be also...
