WATERS  OF  NOAH  

From a "Questioning User" (QU20) followup to "Flood event"--

>QU20> Now, what kind of event could cause the conditions of "the flood?"

The "kind of event" was an ADVENT. As God said: "Behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; and every thing that is in the earth shall die."

>QU20> Well, taking only from my field of expertise (astrophysics), I am going to through out the assumption that a meteor collision located in the Mediterranean...

Well, a "meteor collision" is a little closer to the truth. The face of the deep was plainly said to be "frozen", and the fountains of the great deep were "broken up", and the windows of heaven were opened, and God himself BROUGHT the flood upon the earth. It is reasonable to suppose that not all of the ice-meteors would completely melt in the atmosphere and numerous violent impacts would result.

Your study of astro-physics seems to be lacking in a few facts: What we call the universe, is called the "firmament" in the Bible. The sun, moon and stars were plainly said to be IN the firmament. The firmament divided the waters, and there was plainly said to be waters ABOVE the firmament. Obviously then, since the stars are IN the firmament, the waters ABOVE the firmament would be above the stars.

Don't most astronomers believe that the universe is EXPANDING? IF such were the case, then the "size of the known universe" in Noah's time would have been SMALLER, and therefore, the waters ABOVE the firmament would have been CLOSER. Now it is evident from the account of the flood in Genesis 7, that the "windows of heaven" were opened the "selfsame day" that Noah entered into the ark, but yet, it was "AFTER seven days" when the waters arrived!

If you assume that the waters were traveling less than the speed of light, then the top of the "known universe" then would have to have been less then 7 "light-days" distance from the earth. (Less than 112.5 billion miles, in the UP direction. :)

OBVIOUSLY a pretty mind-boggling thought! but with God all things are possible, and the LORD can easily "bow" the heavens and "come down" (Psm.144:5p!) - the top of the universe could have been temporarily closer for that advent. (An enLIGHTNING thought considering that HERE WE ARE, getting closer to the second advent of the LORD! :)

Hey, man! the waters began to move toward the earth the selfsame day that Noah entered into the ark, but it was 7 days later before the waters began to impact the earth, like the December 7th "string of pearls" comet barrage upon Jupiter. Ordinary "rain" doesn't take 7 DAYS to fall from atmospheric clouds, (but from Oort clouds? :)

And hey! The MUDDY waters were removed "from -off- the earth" after the flood, so don't be surprised if one day, fossils are found in comets ("dirty snowballs") or "meteors from Mars?" Oh Yeah!
