THE winter is past and spring rains wash the air, leaving a freshness like no other time of the year. The flowers begin to bloom, the birds begin to sing. A lot of people have been looking forward to this special time for various reasons.
Pagans have been celebrating Easter for a long time. The ancient Babylonians are probably the first to celebrate it. They called it "Ishtar", which is pronounced about the same as "Easter" is today. This was the time of the spring festival. The word itself, comes from the name of the pagan goddess of Spring. Other spellings are Eostre, Ostera, Esther and Astarte. The pagans of today still observe Easter in much the same way that they did thousands of years ago with their various fertility symbols.
Easter in the Bible
The word "Easter" is found only once in the Holy Bible, which is the Authorized 1611 King James Version, in the Book of Acts, chapter 12 verse 4. The Romans were ruling the world at that time. There was a famine throughout all the world in the days of Claudius Caesar, and it was at this time that we find the mention of "Easter".
Herod was king then, and about that time he stretched forth his hands to vex certain [members] of the church, and he killed James the brother of John. This was AFTER the Passover for it says, "Then were the days of unleavened bread." The Jews back then ate only unleavened bread for 7 days during that feast. (see also Lev.23) Because Herod saw that the death of James PLEASED the Jews, he put Peter in prison, intending to kill him too. Peter is one of the Apostles of the Lord Jesus Christ.
The Romans were celebrating their shameful feast also at this time. The spring festival of the goddess "Easter" (English spelling): "When he [Herod] had apprehended him [Peter], he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions [4x4=16] of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people." (Acts.12:4)
Leviticus 23
5 In the fourteen[day] of the first month at even [is] the LORD's passover.
6 And on the fifteenth day of the same month [is] the feast of unleavened bread unto the LORD; seven days ye must eat unleavened bread.
Corrupt LIARS will tell you the LIE that "Easter" should have been translated as "the passover" (in verse 4). But since the passover is the 14th day of the 1st month at even, and the days of unleavened bread immediately follow that for 7 days, and the Holy Spirit plainly told you in verse 3 that "Then were the days of unleavened bread", so it was already AFTER the passover: therefore "Easter" is the correct translation, for after all, Herod was a Roman ruler.
While Peter was in prison the Religious Romans were having a GAY time getting drunk and other things. Other things being the worship of the goddess "Easter", who is also known as the Sex-goddess. When it came time for the Romans to take Peter out of the prison and deliver him to be killed like James, they had a surprise, for the angel of the LORD came during the night (before they would have brought him out) and delivered him. Peter might have been the victim also of the Romans, but for the grace of God.
HOW ABOUT YOU? Has the Lord delivered you from the Romans who celebrate Easter by drinking alcoholic wine? Do you celebrate the Roman festival of Easter? Because of the universal influence of Rome today, many people today are deceived into thinking that Easter is a Christian festival. Peter followed Christ. Was he observing Easter? No. He was thrown in jail by the people that celebrate Easter!
The only mention of Easter in the word of God and one person is killed and another is almost killed and after that, Herod himself was killed by the Angel of the LORD in verse 23 "And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost." (Acts.12:23)
Most Romans don't give God the glory even today. Let us set Easter aside now and find out what the Christian fellowship supper at the time of the Passover is really all about.
In Matthew we find the beginnings of the true Christian Passover:
Matthew 26
17 ¶ Now the first [day] of the [feast of] unleavened bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare for thee to eat the passover?
18 And he said, Go into the city to such a man, and say unto him, The Master saith, My time is at hand; I will keep the passover at thy house with my disciples.
19 And the disciples did as Jesus had appointed them; and they made ready the passover.
20 Now when the [14th day] even was come, he sat down with the twelve.
And they ate the passover. But just what exactly is the Passover? The first Passover was at the time of the EXODUS of the children of Israel from Egypt. The LORD delivered them by a mighty hand. The children of Israel were instructed by Moses to take a LAMB without blemish, a MALE of the first year, and to take it out from the sheep, or from the goats.
They were told to keep it up until the 14th day of that month which is their first month, and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill "it" in the evening. They were told also to take of the blood of the Lamb and to Strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the house where they were.
The Lord gave the reason for this: "For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD. And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt." (Exodus.12:12,13)
And they did as they were told, and the LORD delivered them. In the place of the children of Israel, a LAMB was killed. And the BLOOD of the Lamb is what the LORD is looking for.
In the New Testament of God's word we read where John the Baptist says: "Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world." (John.1:29p)
The Lord Jesus Christ is God's Lamb which takes away the sin of the world. When the Lord and his Apostles sat down to eat the passover, they were looking back to the passover when the Lord delivered the children of Israel from Egypt and they were looking forward to the place where "God will provide himself a lamb" (Gen.22:8p), which was to take place the morning following the supper they were then eating tuesday night (4th [hebrew week] day "evening").
"And as they did eat, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and brake it, and gave to them, and said, Take, Eat: this is my body." (Mark.14:22) This was pointing forward to the time when HIS body would be broken in the agony of death. Please notice that his literal/physical body was HOLDING the bread! Paul says: "And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me." (1Cor.11:24)
[Note: Broken, not cut. The unleavened bread was broken in pieces for each of them. He didn't pass out vanilla wafers!]
And also: "After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the New Testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death [looking back] till he come." [looking forward] (1Cor.11:25,26)
After supper they went out into the Garden of Gethsemane and Jesus prayed: "Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what Thou wilt." (Mark.14:36)
After the Lord had prayed in the garden, Judas, who though he was one of the Apostles, was also "a devil" (John.6:70p), came to BETRAY him and he was delivered up to the Jewish high priest and then to Pontius Pilate the Roman Governor for sentencing.
Pilate said: "I find no fault in this man". (Luke.23:4p) (3 times-- "no fault")
Judas, which betrayed him-- "when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself" and said: "I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood." and he cast down the 30 pieces of silver which the "priests" gave to him to betray the Lord and "went and hanged himself."
The priests took the silver pieces, and said, "It is not lawful for to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood." And they bought with the silver the potter's field to bury strangers in. And that field was called, "The field of blood, unto this day."
Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, "And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him that was valued, whom they of the children of Israel did value; And gave them for the potter's field, as the Lord appointed me." (Matt.27:3-10; see Jeremiah.18:1-4; 19:1-3; Zechariah.11:12,13)
And again Pilate said unto them: "Take ye him, and crucify him: for I find no fault in him." (A Lamb without blemish. Pure. Holy.) And the Jews answered him, "We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God."
When Pilate therefore heard THAT saying, he was the more afraid; And went again into the judgment hall, and said unto Jesus, "Whence art thou?"
But Jesus gave him NO ANSWER; Even as it is written: "He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth. He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation?" (Isaiah.53p)
And Pilate brought Jesus forth, and sat down in the judgment seat in a place that is called the Pavement: "And it was the preparation of the passover, and about the sixth hour: [6 a.m. Roman time] and he saith unto the Jews, Behold Your King. But they cried out, Away with him, away with him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Shall I crucify your King? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Caesar." (John.19:14,15)
The priests chose Rome to rule. They look to Rome for the answer instead of the Lord Jesus Christ who said: "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life" and "I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved" and "I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep" and again, "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal Life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand." (John.14:6;10:9,11,28)
And they led the Lamb of God away to be crucified. "And the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it..." (Exodus.12:6p)
"And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left."
"Then said Jesus, Father forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots." (Luke.23:33,34)
(Are you a Roman like those that participated in that evil lottery?)
"And it was the third hour, and they crucified him."
(Mark.15:25)( Third Hour = about 9 a.m. Roman time )
And they set up over his head his accusation written: THIS IS JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS.(Matt 27:37, Mark 15:26, Luke 23:38, John 19:19, combined reading) and it was written in the languages of the Jews and the Greeks and the language of Rome: Hebrew, Greek, and Latin. (from Jn.19:20)
Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother. When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved (John) and knowing that idolatrous Romans would venerate/worship Mary, said to his mother: "Woman, behold thy son" (John) and to John he said: "Behold thy mother." No longer was she to be considered Jesus' mother, but rather, John's, and he took her unto his own home.
"And when the sixth hour was come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour." (Mk.15:33)(12 noon until 3 p.m. Roman)
"And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?" (Mk.15:34) (Psalm.22:1p)
The LORD, speaking through David said also in Psalm 22: "I am poured out like water and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels. For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me; they pierced my hands and my feet. I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me. They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture." (Psm.22:14-18)
BEHOLD the LAMB of GOD
which taketh away the sin of the world!
"Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. . . . he hath poured out his soul unto death; and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors." (Isaiah.53:4,5,12p)
The Lamb of God. And the LORD laid our sins on him, and turned his face away from his only begotten Son who cried out with such agony:
"My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken me?"
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not Perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved." (John.3:16,17)
More than 2600 years ago Isaiah also said that, "We hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not." (Isa.53:3)
After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, "I thirst." So they filled a spunge (a "CUP"!) with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth: That fruit of the vine tree that brought sin into the world so many years ago when Adam ate of it in disobedience. But Jesus in obedience received your sins and mine into his own body on the tree. "SUCH LOVE! that God should love a sinner such as I!"
When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he cried with a LOUD voice:
"IT IS FINISHED"
and he said: "Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit" and "he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost." (Luke.23:46 & John.19:28-30)
And it -IS- finished! Complete. Nothing more to be added. FINISHED. The free gift of salvation available to whosoever will receive him!
"Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God." (Heb.12:2p)
"But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man." (Heb.2:9)
And that Roman soldier took that spear and thrust it into the side of our Lord at the fifth rib, (the same rib that Adam had taken out of his side to get his wife,) and that spear RIPPED into the Lord's temple, his body, into his heart and there came out blood and water!
"And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom, and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;" Matt.27:51)
Hebrews 10 19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, 20 By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;
Hebrews 9 16 For where a testament [is], there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. 17 For a testament [is]of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.
See Hebrews.10:20. The "veil" is a type of Christ's "flesh"! There can be no doubt! The veil is rent, the door is open, the way is clear, and we have Direct Access to the "Throne of Grace" to find mercy and to obtain "grace to help in time of need."
The way is open to the Holy of Holies, and to the Heaven of Heavens! No more priesthood of Levites, no more tithes to the storehouse, no more lambs burnt on the alter, no more incense burned in the temple, no more long-robed "fathers," and no More Temple except the body of believers! (Acts.7:47-50; Mal.3:10-13; 2Cor.3; 1Tim.1:9,10; Gal.2,3; Heb.10:8-12).
The New Testament is -IN EFFECT- with Matt.27:51. (Heb.9:16,17)
Woe be unto the Judaizers and Papist Romans who have damned the souls of Billions of people in the church-age, trying to drag them back Outside the Veil, and make them approach the "Most High" through doorkeepers, attendants, maids, and other "in betweens" or so-called "priests". The Veil is Rent. Woe unto you religious upstarts that prance around in halloween robes telling people they have to go through you, or "Mary", or any other blasphemous nonsense!
GOD wants all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth: "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all; to be testified in due time." (1Tim.2:5,6)
"Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need." (Hebrews.4:14-16)
"The earth did quake, and the rocks rent." And out on the south rim of Jerusalem, swinging over the abyss, hangs the body of Judas the traitor. It shakes, trembles, and then drops, rope, limb, tree, and all, into the valley of Gehenna. The body of that "apostle" splits from chest to groin by the impact on the ROCK and stomach and guts spill out over torn robes. (Matt.27:51 with Acts.1:18,19)
Now, when the centurion saw that Jesus cried out, and gave up the ghost, he said, "Truly, this man was the Son of God." And he glorified God, saying, "Certainly this was a righteous man." (Lk.23:47; Mk.15:39)
How about You? Will you Say---"Glory to God in the highest", Or will you be like those in the book of Romans of whom it is said: "Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things." (Romans.1:21,22)
Images? Statues? So-called pictures of Jesus who is "God manifest in the Flesh" (1Tim.3:16p.) Relics? ROBOTS? You better wake up!
"Take ye therefore good heed unto yourselves; for ye saw no manner of similitude on the day that the LORD spake unto you in Horeb out of the midst of the fire: lest ye corrupt yourselves, and make you a graven image, the similitude of any figure, the likeness of male or female" (Deut.4:15,16)
Beware of the image of the beast! (Rev.13) Beware of that thing that's part man and part machine. (Dan.2) Beware of that "Duece ex Machina" abomination! Don't you be deceived into letting a computer tell you what to do! Listen, when Judas died, the Bible says that he went to his own place! The bottomless pit! He's the son of perdition and the antichrist rises to deceive the whole world. Listen! Don't you be deceived! That "prince" is plainly revealed by the Bible to be satanic! The wrong "christ"! BE NOT DECEIVED! [See Home Page Links for the Revelation pages about the mark /|\ of the beast.]
What are you celebrating? Easter? or Christ Our Passover? The Lord Jesus says to Pharisees: "Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition." (Matt.15:6) Take heed and beware of the false doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees. (Matt.16:6,12)
"Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened." "Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth."
He died for your Sins, He was buried and rose again the third Day for your Justification. His BLOOD was shed for your Redemption.
Surely that Jesus is the
Lord!
"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him" (Romans.5:9)
"Being Justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;" (Rom.3:24,25)
To declare: HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS, not yours or mine. "Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law." (Romans.3:28)
"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal lifethrough Jesus Christ our Lord."(Rom.6:23) "FREE GIFT"(5:18)
PAUL:"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." (Ephesians.2:8,9)
JESUS:"have ye not read?" - "Verily, Verily, I say unto you, he that believeth on me-hath- everlasting life." (Mk.12:26, Jn.6:47)
THE LORD:"I AM the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?"
KEEP the Feast of Christ Our Passover, and "eat this bread, and drink this cup" and "shew the Lord's death TILL HE COME!"
"For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord." (1Thes.4:16,17)
Amen! Even so, come, Lord Jesus! The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you all in the love of the truth. Amen.
