A Surprising Look at 'good friday' as contrasted with the True Three Days AND THREE NIGHTS the Lord Jesus was in the heart of the earth; as revealed by The Bible.
"When the -even- was come, there came a rich man of Arimathæa, named Joseph, who also himself was Jesus' disciple. He went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered." (Matt.27:57,58) - WHEN IS EVEN?
"But at the place which the LORD thy God shall choose to place his name in, there thou shalt sacrifice the passover at even, at the going down of the sun, at the season that thou camest forth out of Egypt." (Deut.16:6) and "at even, when the sun did set" (Mark.1:32)
Sunset is about 6 pm Roman time, but it is the END of the Jewish Day. That day being WEDNESDAY the 4th day of the week. The Bible 5th day of the week was at hand, and Joseph went to Pilate-- "When the even was COME". They had to hurry! The sun was going down fast! The lower edge of the disk touches the horizon, and if you've ever seen a sunset, you know it's not long before the upper edge vanishes.
"Then took they the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury. Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new sepulchre, wherein was never man yet laid. There laid they Jesus therefore because of the Jews' preparation day; for the sepulchre was nigh at hand." (John.19:40-42)
Darkness in the sepulchre, darkness falling outside the sepulchre, The 1st day in the Grave has started. The 15th day of the Jewish first month had started, the "high day" sabbath of the feast of unleavened bread following the killing of the passover Lamb of God.
1. "And the evening and the morning were the FIRST day"
2. "And the evening and the morning were the SECOND day"
3. "And the evening and the morning were the THIRD DAY."
The LORD counts his days from Sunset to Sunset. Three "Days" have Come and Gone, and which brings us up to the Jewish 1st day of the week, which begins at 6 p.m. Saturday (Roman time in Jerusalem).
The Jewish Sabbath is ENDED. 3 whole days in the HEART OF THE EARTH. The sepulchre was still dark, But EMPTY! The stone still in front of the door, but: EMPTY!
And the ACTION STARTS! Saturday Night in Jerusalem!
(The original "Saturday Night Live!" :)
[Follow NEXT links for further.]
"And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, And came out of the graves -after- his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many." (Matt.27:52,53) Oh yeah Man! Saturday night LIVE!! "MANY"!!
"And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it." (Matt.28:2)
"The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre." (John.20:1)
YET DARK! Jesus ALREADY risen! Later:
"Very early in the morning the first day of the week, they [women] came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun." (Mark 16:2)
"Why seek ye the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen, remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee, Saying, the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again. And they remembered his words." (see Luke.24)
Do you remember his words? When the priests asked to see a SIGN:
"He answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas: For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth." (Matt.12:39,40)
How long was the Lord Jesus Christ in the heart of the earth? Three days and three nights! But "priests", like the ones that stood around his cross and mocked him, and Romans, like the ones that had their lottery to get some part of his clothes, say: One day and Two nights. They say that Jesus was crucified on Friday and arose on Sunday. Such is the wickedness of that "mistress of witchcrafts, that selleth nations through her whoredoms". You were warned!
It was sunset when they laid him in the tomb so you can NOT count the daytime Friday. And it was dark, before Sunrise that he [was risen], so you can't count the daytime Sunday. What does that leave you with? Friday Night and Saturday Day and possibly part of Saturday Night-- Only One Day and One night and part of a night. (WAKE UP!)
The word of God says to the Romans: "God forbid: yea, let God be true but every man a liar." (Rom.3:4) - "For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple." (Romans 16:18)
Paul, the Apostle to the Romans, had this to say about the Gospel: "I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed." (Gal.1:6-8)
The false teachers, the wolves in sheep's clothing, teach the LIE that he died on a friday and came up on sunday. They're just trying to make a liar out of Jesus Christ. He wasn't just one day and two nights, but rather 3 days and 3 nights in the heart of the earth!
Listen, Friend, the death of the Lord Jesus Christ was according to the scriptures! He himself prophesied of his death long before it happened. The way in which he died, the place, time, etc., were all according to prophecies of the scriptures.
Luke, a "physician" (Col.4:14p), certified (Luke 1:4) the FACT that Jesus was indeed DEAD (Luke 23:46) and that his death glorified God!
[Medical issues are addressed later in the "Out of the heart" page.]
Pontius Pilate, the Governor, made certain of his death BEFORE releasing the body to Joseph of Arimathæa.
The Roman Centurion in charge of the crucifixion certified that he was dead and to be certain that he was indeed dead, one of the soldiers thrust a spear into his heart! (John.19:34)
Every one connected with it made certain that he was dead!
"Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world."
Jonah Chapter 2
5 The waters compassed me about, even to the soul: the depth closed me round about, the weeds were wrapped about my head.
John Chapter 20
6 Then cometh Simon Peter following him, and went into the sepulchre, and seeth the linen clothes [plural] lie,
7 And the napkin, that was about his head, not lying with the linen clothes, but wrapped together in a place by itself.
His BURIAL was according to the scriptures! Both the prophecy in Jonah.2:5 and the eye-witness testimony in John.20:7 indicate that Jesus had a separate covering wrapped about his head. (So much for the devilish catholic one-piece shroud of Turin nonsense.) The tomb was sealed: "So they went, and made the sepulchre sure, sealing the stone, and setting a watch."
Listen, Friend, He died for YOUR sins, He was buried and rose again the THIRD day for YOUR justification. His BLOOD was shed for YOUR redemption. ("Such love! That God should love a sinner such as I" :)
"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him" (Romans.5:9)
"Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;"
To declare: HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS, not yours or mine. "Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law." (Romans 3:28)
"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal lifethrough Jesus Christ our Lord." (Rom.6:23) "FREE GIFT" (5:18p)
"HAVE YE NOT READ?" - "Verily, Verily, I say unto you, he that believeth on me hath everlasting life." (--The Lord Jesus)
Jesus says: "I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?"
Remember that Jesus is the LORD and receive the love of the truth! The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
