Prisoners and Patients Journey for Justice

On March 24th of 2000, I will be taking a caravan of cannabis patients and prisoners family members from Starke Prison to Tallahassee. This is the third Journey for Justice I have lead. (See James Dawson's Freedom Pages for stories)

I would like to see groups unite all over Florida (and the country) in a Peace effort. If not the Journey, something. The Global Walk for Peace is also a unifying effort across the nation. I would at least like all of us in Florida to know about each other.

A small group of patients struggling for legal access to natural medical marijuana join forces with prisoners' families and first amendment advocates to make a pilgrimage to the Florida capitol to request an end to abuse of power.

We use wheelchairs because many of the patients live in them. No one is shoving us into the streets. We are passionately determined to make this trip.

We guarantee to keep one set of wheels on the road at all times. Therefore we travel an average of 4 miles per hour, 30 miles per day, and the 160 mile trip will take six days.

We are recruiting 400 drummers to line the last mile of our walk, so that Jeb Bush and Michael Moore, Secretary of Corrections, will feel us coming and know we march to the beat of a different drummer. (If you are a drummer and would participate, contact me.)

While in Tallahassee we will visit Bush and Moore, one more effort to make them understand our positions. We will hold vigil on the capitol lawn Friday and Saturday. The public is invited to meet us there or anywhere along the route.

Updates will follow...
